Back on Track
It’s looking like were going to be heading over to Oschersleben this weekend to compete in the German IDM Superbikes series. We’ll be skipping the psycho streetcourse of Hengelo for the Dutch Championship.
My injuries are healing quite well. And the team has been working its ass off to get the Hoegee Suzuki GSXR1000 L0 back to peak performance condition. They’ve done a great job!
Got some good news from Suzuki this week, they’ll provide a second GSXR1000 L0 as a spare bike. Avoiding a situation like the last race, where I totalled the L0 and had to grab the ‘old’ k7 model.
I’ll be leaving you behind with a cool vintage picture of my uncle’s dad. He used to be an avid and fast racer, back in the day. Here he’s going full throttle at Assen on a Matchless G50. Enjoy!
Peace!

Pictures Assen Crash Online
How to break your brand new Hoegee Suzuki GSXR 1000 l0 into a thousand pieces?
Crash the thing at 250km/h. Pictures can be found here….
OUCH!!!
The second race of the Dutch Superbikes Championship was held during the World Superbikes Championship weekend at Assen. Unfortunately I crashed HARD in first practice. Flooring the bike at 150mph was uncool. Luckily I came away relatively uninjured. The bike however, OUCH!
I had badly bruised my knee, hurt my back and (later found out) broke my left middle finger. We prepped the ‘old’ bike for 2nd practice, but we had fuelpump problems in lap 3 which made me go in the pits and retire the session. Damn! Only 4 laps of qualifying and 34th on the grid while injured and on my spare bike.
Suzuki wasn’t liking this one bit. The World Superbike weekend being their one of their big events of the year. The race was one for the books. I went from 34th on the grid to 16th on the first lap en managed to pick a few guys of in the rest of the race. Passing the line in 8th at the end of the last lap. An amazing race, especially with the injuries I was riding with. This was damage limitation!
I did loose the lead in the championship, but the damage wasn’t that bad.
Pictures are online!
Peace!

Opening Race of the 2010 Season…(updated)
BOOM BABY! What a great race. I took 2nd place, behind Matej Smrz, after a great battle with Gareth Jones, Arie Vos, and Danny de Boer. It started to drizzle lightly after the start, but we pushed hard and laptimes dropped like stone. My Dunlops proved superior to the other guys’ Pirelli’s.
An awesome start to the season, Matej isn’t a championship regular which means I’m currently at the top of the championship table. It feels good that all our pre-season work turned out a winning combination.
Next race is in three weeks. Hopefully we’ll keep it up.
Peace!

Original post:
are the Easter Races at Assen. Qualifying went well with a 5th place. The Hoegee Suzuki GSXR1000 L0 handled like a dream after we made some adjustments to the bike after free practice. Speed is good and I think we can fight for the win tomorrow!

Talk to the Hand!
The US car magazine 0-60 had a cool little item about my ‘modified’ hand in their latest edition. Story by Richard Chang, picture by Reno Voet.
I met Rich and his wife Michelle (check out her book here) on my last visit to New York City, a couple of weeks ago. We got introduced by, mutual friend, Guyora Kats after his performance at the Rockwood Music Hall in the Lower East Side. A random New York event of to racing enthusiasts meeting. Rich writes for the New York Times and freelances.
The picture was taken by Reno Voet of NYXUM. Like myself, Reno is a crazy NYC outcast full of ideas and ventures. He did a great job, and I hope to continue to work with him on future projects.
Peace!

Dunlop Test @ Albacete
We were invited by the European Dunlop Racing department to participate in their pre-season test at the Albacete circuit in Spain. It gave us a great opportunity to take our brand spanking new GSXR1000 L0 out for a shake down.
It turned out to be a great four days of testing, the weather was great, the new bike ran beautifully, and the default setup worked well from the get go. The Ohlins cartridge, prepared by SO-Products’ Andre Stamsnijder, worked extremely well in the front. The Ohlins TTX in the back did a perfect job as expected.
I had a chance to test a set of leathers that HELD provided. These fitted great and definitely looked the part.
Looking forward to the start of the season!!!
Keep em rollin’!

New Bike & New Team = New Logo
Marc Hoegee has been testing the new Suzuki GSXR1000 L0. The bike is showing good overall power and he’s tweaked the Yoshimura EMpro to perform optimally.
The teamname for 2010 has changed to MRTT Hoegee Suzuki, which incorporates are main partners. Polytech Tuning will still be running the whole show, the (factory supported) team.
Here are some pictures of the new bike and logo.
Have fun!
Peace!

English page back online!
It’s been a while since the English part of this motorcycle racing blog went offline, don’t exactly remember why. To make up for lost time I’ll leave you behind with a short resume of last years’ racing…
We started off in Dutch Superbikes and the German IDM Superbikes series on our trusty Suzuki GSXR1000 k7, prepared by Polytech Tuning. In our third season on the bike, we had it pretty much sorted out.
We showed good results, edging into the top 5 in Holland, until I crashed and broke my hand in qualifying practice for the IDM Superbikes round Oschersleben (video below).
We came back with a BLAST for the second half of the season, with wonderful 4th, 3rd, and 1st place finishes in the last three races in Holland. (video below).
For the 2010 season we signed with Suzuki Netherlands and their race department, Marc Hoegee. We will also be backed by Dunlop and Arai, which all turns out to be a sweat little deal.
I’ll leave you behind with some video’s.
Pictures can be seen here.
Stay cool!
